I’m camped about a half to three-quarters of a mile shy of Barlow Pass. That only leaves about 6 to 6.5 miles to Timberline where I get to meet up with the best wife and thru-hike supporter ever. I couldn’t have done any of this without her help.
I only did about 15 miles today but I stopped before 5:00pm because there is a storm a-brewing. The clouds came up quickly from the south and there could be some lightning. I found a spot with some good cover and drainage and some visibility of the impending doom. This morning started out quite chilly walking through the woods along Timothy Lake. There were some great little springs along the way, but the last one was 8 miles back and it was hot by the time I reached that one. That’s when I was sucking down water and went through two Gatorade packets. I’ve been moving pretty slow since then. I have about 1.5 liters for the morning. At about 4.5 miles from here there is a creek to get me through to Timberline. I visited Little Crater Lake which was pretty cool. I never ran into any of the NOBO’s I had lunch with yesterday. I mostly ran into section hikers today--also a few day hikers. The trail is about 40 feet from the little opening in the woods where I made my rock stool. Pretty cool perch. Hopefully the rain will wait until after I go to bed. Fingers crossed.
