Well, the first leg of adventure is over, mostly. I'm here at Fish Lake hanging out having a beer. No cell, no wifi, no pay phone. Guess I'll have dinner here and camp at the free hiker spots. I got a few hours to kill so I guess I'll walk around and check stuff out.
I did 9.5 miles today and it barely felt like anything. Two 20-mile days and a 17 and a 16. I'm thinking I can knock out most of the Oregon section pretty quickly come August and will still have ample time left over to do stuff with Faceplant.
9:00pm- I camped a little way away from the lake scene--maybe 300 yards. Anything to get away from Snark. Snark is a really annoying dude hanging out on the deck. He's probably the guy everyone hated to see show up at the party. I did get to chat with Ernest from Holland as well as a couple on a long-distance bike tour that they just started a couple of days ago at Crater Lake. They let me use their phone to call home.
The staff were all really nice here and you can hang out on the deck and chat over a beer and burger until close.
I can't wait to get back out here after my feet heal. I'll definitely have a lighter setup and different shoes and clothing system. I can't wait! But in the morning I get to be reunited with my honey!
