21 AUG 2020

7:00 p.m. Managed to break camp around 9 am or so after waiting for the rain to stop so I could pack up the tent. It rained off and on all night but I managed to stay dry. I had a few glimpses of the sun as I started out but it never came back the rest of the day.

It was misty and foggy all day with occasional heavy sprinkles. All the trailside vegetation quickly soaked my feet and lower legs. My feet looked like wrinkled prunes. Could not camp in the burn with all the dead trees. I did manage to find a spot that was dry in the big trees only about a half mile from the trailhead. Could not get a cell signal anywhere or I would've asked my baby to come rescue me. I did keep walking down to road 23 just in case my mental telepathy actually worked. Nope, came a mile and a half back to this spot.

So I did 14 miles of trail today plus the backtracking. Hopefully she'll come earlier than the noon time we agreed

on.
