7:00 p.m. Mosquitos are driving me nuts! I'm camped at about mile 2257 on the map at the end of a little ridge with a pretty good view. Part of the view is of clouds coming in from the south west. I'm told it is supposed to

rain tonight, and tomorrow night. Don't know about Friday.

I guess I hiked about 15 miles today after breaking camp around 8 AM and stopping at about 4 PM. The trek through Cispus Basin was incredible! Everything was so green and lush. The wildflowers look to be in peak bloom and there was water everywhere.  Thundering streams and waterfalls and many little creeks flowing down the steep hillsides. The next basin over was quite pretty. I got the privilege of watching a coyote hunting marmots while I was loading up on water at a nice little spring. The marmots saw him coming so he left hungry and dejected.  The Cooper's Hawk that was flying over at the same time also left with no breakfast.

It can be tough being a predator I guess.

After Sheep lake the terrain was kind of boring. The trail did a really wide arc to the east around the Walupt

Lake basin.  Not much to see and it started getting warm. Luckily there

were plenty of small springs along the way for a good water supply and

for cooling off.

Passed a large pack of NOBO's in the last hour of hiking.   They were all kind of hiking together more or less. Talked to a couple of gals, one who is from Banks and most recently was working at the Growler Garage in the Grove until joining up with her friend around the Tahoe area. Small world.

Tomorrow it's on to the north side of

Adams. Hopefully the hike will be mostly dry.
