I didn't hear or see any vermin. Just heard one coyote howl in the
predawn hours. Slept OK but a little on the cold side. The hike down to
Indian Beach area was nice because I was on the service road. The rest
of the hike out of Ecola was pretty messy at times.
I got my bus back to Seaside after having a pizza slice at Cannon Beach. Now my car is parked at Cannon Beach. I fear my Britt friend got in trouble trying to go up Tillamook head last night. He told me he was going to camp before the trail head. The cop who gave me the parking permit said they rescued someone at about 9:30 up there last night. It did not register with me till later that it was probably Tygh. Hope he did not
get hurt.
Later update: After chatting with the police contact I had for overnight parking in Seaside, I found out that Tygh was OK but had gotten lost on the proliferation of muddy side trails going up that trail. He called 911 for help as it was getting dark and ended up spending the night at the fire station. Don't know if he got back on trail again?
It's a nice beach walk to arch Cape. Very pretty section. Made it around Hug point just past low tide. Much easier than when Brenda and I did it on a day hike a few years back. In my haste I forgot to load up on the
water for tonight. Only have about a liter to make it to Short Sand
Beach and do breakfast. Might wait until the beach to have a proper
breakfast. Should only have about 11 or 12 miles to Manzanita so I can
catch my 3 o'clock bus back to Cannon Beach.
