9:00 p.m. I'm camped just below Woody Pass in a meadow again in a bit of a wind tunnel. Made it here by about 4 p.m. and was going to head to Hopkins Lake but after getting some info. from a fellow section hiker, I decided not to go further.
It has been a tough but beautiful day of hiking today. I went up to the top of the pass to check things out and it started to rain. When I got down to the camp area, it looked like it was gonna rain a lot and soon. I quickly set up the tent in the building wind and dove inside. As I was trying to hold the tent together from the inside, the thunderstorm started and lasted over an hour and a half. The thunder was impressive as was the downpours and then the hailstorm. Yikes, I'm glad I wasn't up on that ridge during lightning!
Looks like several people camped here and tagged the border today, some are getting back quite late. They probably hunkered down waiting out the storm. I may leave camp set up and try for the border myself if the weather looks good.
