Forest Road 23 to Stabler
7:40 p.m. I just saw some blue sky over the Big Lava bed next to camp. That's the first blue sky I've seen today. Last night's campspot became a constant tree shower when blowing fog rolled in around midnight.
I spent most of the day hiking in a soaking wet cloud. The hiking was really easy but not very pleasant. Once in a while the trail went on the east side of the ridge out of the wind and fog drip. That was nice but still no sun.
Stopped at Crest Camp and towel dried my sopping wet tent on a picnic table. I only hiked 17 miles today but decided to camp early in a big camp just past a trickling spring. There's one other section hiker here, Christie, who is headed to White Pass. 10 days in one go and no resupply. Ouch!
The camp is dry and out of the wind. Hopefully it will stay that way. So I'll have a 17.6 mile day tomorrow to meet my wonderful wife at about 2 PM. I guess I better get up early.
