7:30 p.m. Did about 18 miles today and I'm camped at Dewey lake. I'm fully suited up after taking a brief dunk in the lake. Tons of bugs here at this nice sandy lakeshore but even worse up at camp. It's a really nice lake though with a sandy beach and nice views of the ridge to the north. 

I started out the day hiking in full mosquito gear, including the head net. Had to ditch all that when I finally got to climb into higher country. Got into some really pretty terrain for a while but I was lacking energy for all the climbing. The heat and the sun probably didn't help. I hope the bugs die down north of Chinook pass. There will be much fewer bodies of water which helps. We will see....
