It looks like I did 18.5 miles today on trail plus a few short side trips. I’m camped at mile 2050.5 just a little way past a very welcoming spring north of Jude Lake. I’m above the trail on a semi-flat ridge end in some scrubby hemlock. No sun, but it’s fairly open and bone dry. The trek down from Park Ridge was really pretty for the first few miles—Good alpine country with lots of small lakes and ponds. Then the trail got in the woods and became very monotonous and at times quite rocky. There were lots of roly-poly rocks. There were also lots of pretty lakes all along the way…lots of good foot-soaking opportunities. I made a little detour over to Ollalie Lake Resort to check out the store. The lady running the place was very nice and quite helpful to hikers. The store was really well stocked considering how far out in the middle of nowhere they are. Prices seemed pretty good too. Kudos to those folks! Wow, I see some awesome sunset colors through the woods. I wish I was in a spot with a view! Well, at least it should be warmer tonight. I had a frozen rainfly this morning at Jeff Park. I’m gonna try going without the fly tonight. We’ll see how that goes.
