7:00pm. Well, here I am at tent city in Mazama village, or we could call this site D8. There's probably about 2 dozen tents spread out here. Good thing it's a big site! I don't know how much sleep I'll get.
The hiking today started out pretty easy and even the mosquitoes were tolerable while breaking camp. The first couple hours were good and then I entered the burn. I hiked through the burn for hours. Every once in a while I would enter a stand of live trees and then a minute later, back into the burn again. Oh, and it was hot and dusty-- my feet weren't happy. Not too long after crossing over into the park, things started improving. There were lots of big trees and nice green meadows. I ended up getting a ride from a day hiker gal down here on vacation from Spokane.
