Faceplant and Munchmix did some more live reconnaissance at Crater Lake and Mazama.

MAZAMA: The PCT groups site is still closed as of this day, but they were designating a large pull-thru site on the B loop as the shared PCT site and asked $5 per hiker staying there. The showers are coin operated--you can access and use them during store closed hours and .75 gets you 4 minutes. The store is well stocked---ice cream treats are coming out their ears, and the usual array of munchie foods, cheese sticks, energy drinks and even a couple dehydrated meal selections. Fresh fruit too. And what ho is that? A FUNCTIONING PAY PHONE. (younger hikers--ask the older hikers how to use these. It's ok... we hit you up for how to use our cell phones all the time.)

Because of cougar activity, they have the PCT from Mazamas area up to the rim closed so your options are to take the Rim Trail or ride the trolley to the top. While the trolley departs Mazama at 9am, 10am and 11am, a couple hikers we encountered said they waited for the 11am which never came.
