One last bit of August 3 reconnaissance: We stopped by the road crossing on the north side of Crater Lake having heard there was a water cache here as well. We were unable to say whether the single container below the sign post was the cache but did not find any other.

We also noticed the posting for shuttle service for a fee from this trailhead.
